Wolverines Display Teamwork and Resilience in Consecutive Matches
The Wolverines boys’ water polo team showcased their exceptional teamwork last Monday as they faced off against Auburn Riverside. The game concluded with a victory for Bellevue, triumphing 14-8. This win was a testament to the remarkable contributions from the entire team, with eight different players finding the back of the net and nine players setting up assists. Such a well-rounded performance highlighted the cohesiveness of the Wolverines, indicating a promising second half of the season.
Building on their momentum, the Bellevue team traveled to Mercer Island on Wednesday to take on a formidable opponent in this fierce rivalry. The MI Islanders, known for their strength with 11 seniors on their roster, proved to be a challenging adversary. At the end of the first quarter, the score was a close 2-3 in favor of Mercer Island. Despite the Islanders pulling away during the second quarter and extending their lead past halftime, Bellevue’s defense and strength goalkeeping remained strong with some vital saves and stops.
Bellevue limited the Islanders to fewer than 10 points but ultimately fell short with a score of 6-9. The Wolverines’ resilience and strategic defensive play were on full display. Facing such a robust MI team offers Bellevue a valuable learning experience for future matches.
