Triumphs, Traditions, and Tough Battles
The Wolverines began their week facing a strong Division 1 Curtis team in Tacoma. Despite starting strong and ending the first quarter just one point behind, the Vikings pulled ahead by halftime. Bellevue was able to make some adjustments during halftime and narrow the gap in the second half, but that wasn’t enough, and they walked away with their first loss of the season, 5-11.
The following evening, the Wolverines headed to Seattle to play the Shorewood Thunderbirds. Bellevue led 6-3 at halftime and continued to dominate with solid defense, ultimately winning 13-7 and setting a new season record of 28 steals across 10 players. The JV game was a nail-biter, ending in a 9-9 tie and the game was decided by what seems to be a new Shorewood/Bellevue tradition of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Unfortunately, Shorewood’s selection of rock beat Bellevue’s scissors on the final attempt.
Saturday saw the JV boys back in in the pool at Edgebrook for the JV league games. The team had a strong showing in both games, tying a solid Mercer Island team 9-9 and defeating North Shore 18-3.
