Bellevue beats Shorewood, 10-9
Tails never fails! Coach Adam Florsheim called tails in our coin flip of the triple overtime today at Innis Arden Pool in Shoreline, facing the Shorewood Stormrays at their home pool. The Wolverines gave it their absolute all for this marathon of a game, ending with a triple overtime, golden goal, scored by freshman Ellie Albert, bringing the final score to 10-9, Bellevue.
The girls were amazing on both offense and defense. Lacey Aquaro had 5 goals,2 steals, and 2 ejections drawn. Ashley Kwon had 3 goals and 3 steals, in addition to being sprinter a whopping 7 times. Ava Grays was an offensive asset, with 4 assists on top of managing the ball on top. Major shoutout to Audrey Grays, playing goalie the entire game and blocking amazing shots, had 14 saves and 5 steals!
The first quarter the Wolverines came out electric, with Lacey Aquaro scoring all 3 unanswered goals. The second quarter heated up, with both teams upping the ante even more on both ends of the pool. The third and fourth quarter, tensions were high, with the score constantly either tied or a team following by one. The game began its first overtime, two 3-minute quarters, with the score 8-8. Bellevue fought the hardest they had all season, and ended the two overtimes tied yet again, 9-9. The triple, golden goal overtime, started with tons of tension and action on behalf of both teams. Audrey Grays got the ball from Shorewood and made a fast break pass to Lacey Aquaro down pool, where Lacey dished the ball left to Ellie Albert, who shot a beautiful, winning goal!
This Friday, April 7, the Wolverines take on DI team Ingraham @ Woodridge pool starting at 4pm. Be there!
