Varsity Boys Compete at San Diego Open Tournament
The Wolverines travelled to San Diego to compete in the 40-team San Diego Open Tournament. The team arrived in San Diego on Thursday and started off with a resounding 12-8 win over Mission Bay. Later that evening, the team faced California HS from Whittier. The Wolverines battled to the end, but Cal bested the team 11-8.
On Friday, the team played at Valhalla HS facing Valley Center Jaguars. Bellevue was up early, but the Jaguars rallied and tied it up in the 4th. The Wolverines were victorious with solid defense and laser offense in the 9-8 nail-biter .
Saturday, the boys were back at Valhalla HS playing Diamond Bar in a hotly contested game. Unfortunately, penalties got the best of the Wolverines in the second half, ending in a tough 10-11 loss. In their final game vs LCC, the Wolverines played solid on both sides of the pool. The 4th quarter ended with a tied 9-9 score. They were given 2 – 3 minute periods to compete. Exhausted but determined, the Wolverines finished out with the 11-10 victory .
The Wolverines finished with 3 wins, more than any of the three other Pacific Northwest teams in the tournament.
