Baker Commits to Cal-Baptist
In November, senior girls water polo co-captain Morgan Baker became the first Wolverine to commit to a Division I program since the program was restarted in 2013, signing with the Cal Baptist Lancers.
Baker is part of a seven-woman recruiting class that includes Vicky Ochoa (Santa Margarita Catholic HS/SOCAL), Katie Fugit (Charter Oak HS/Foothill Club), Krista Krantz (JSerra Catholic HS/SET), Victoria Reardon (San Clemente HS/SET), Catie Kaliszewski (Visitation Academy/SLAP Water Polo Club), and Kira O’Donnell (Westridge School/Rose Bowl Club). Baker joins a talented squad that went 23-11 in 2016 and entered 2017 ranked #25 in the country.
Growing up as a select basketball player, Baker has experienced tremendous success since shifting to water polo full time as a sophomore. Competing with Rain City Water Polo Club during the offseason, Baker was selected to the Pacific Northwest’s ODP Youth Regional Team in 2015 and 2016. She earned Honorable Mention All-State honors as a sophomore and First-Team All-State as a junior.
A natural scorer, Baker has paced the Wolverines in scoring in each of her three years, posting a career-high of 73 goals in 2016. A strong defender, Baker has led the Wolverine defense in steals in two of her three years.
Congratulations to Morgan and the entire Baker family!
