Stanchi commits to Stanford

After leading the Bellevue boys water polo team to three consecutive state titles, senior co-captain Marco Stanchi has committed to play water polo for Stanford University, one of the most storied collegiate water polo programs in the country.

Despite not picking up the sport until the summer after his freshman year, Stanchi experienced an incredible rise from novice to one of the top recruits in the class of 2015. A three-time First Team All-State selection, Stanchi was twice selected to the USA Youth National Team. In the summer of 2014, Stanchi served as starting center for a squad that finished first at the UANA Junior Pan American Championships, fifth at the Memorial Tournament in Acireale, Italy, and 11^th at the FINAL World Youth Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.

click here. Stanchi joins a loaded Cardinal squad that is considered by many to be the best team in the country heading into the 2015 fall season. Led by three members of the US Senior National Team, Stanford is looking to capture its 11th National Championship in men’s water polo.
