Bellevue tops Shorewood 13-2
In its last game before heading to San Diego for the AFC Tournament, Bellevue defeated league opponent Shorewood 13-2 on Tuesday evening at Woodridge Pool.
Eight Wolverines scored in the victory. Senior co-captain Liam Naughton led the offensive surge with four goals, including two in the first quarter when Bellevue jumped out to a 7-1 lead.
Sophomore left-hander Cameron Hayes posted three goals, while senior co-captain Marco Stanchi, senior Josh Rehder, senior Sevren Trulson, senior Daniel Sandler, junior Zack Rossman and sophomore Jesse Hainze scored one each. Senior goalie Quinlan Hughes led the defensive effort with five goals and two steals.
Bellevue (3-0) faces Temescal Canyon in the opening round of the America’s Finest City Tournament on Friday. The 32-team tournament features several of the top high school programs in California. Bellevue is the only team from outside of California competing in the tournament.
