Bellevue falls to Inglemoor & Bainbridge
Inglemoor 5, Bellevue 4
After defeating Roosevelt on Friday despite a rash of recent injuries and illnesses, the Wolverines were unable to do the same against Inglemoor on Tuesday afternoon, falling 5-4.
With five varsity athletes unavailable due to a variety of ailments, the short-handed Wolverines did their best to keep pace with the determined Vikings. Inglemoor jumped to an early 5-2 first half lead, but the Wolverines kept fighting and narrowed the gap to 5-4 halfway through the fourth period. Unfortunately, Bellevue was unable to come up with the game-tying goal, and the Vikings escaped with a 5-4 victory. Freshman Morgan Baker scored two and sophomore Maggie Ugelstad and senior Sophie Quynn added one. But the Wolverines were undone by their inability to convert on 6-on-5 opportunities, going 0-for-7 in the contest.
Bainbridge Island 7, Bellevue 3
One day after their disappointing loss to Inglemoor, the Wolverines traveled across the Puget Sound to Bainbridge Island for another North League matchup. While the Wolverines gained back three injured players, it was not enough to stop the Spartans.
Bainbridge won or tied all four periods, and Sierra Anderson’s six saves were not enough in the loss. Ugelstad, Baker and sophomore Alexis Taber all scored one goal, but poor shooting and 1-for-5 performance on 6-on-5 advantages doomed the Wolverines.
Bellevue (6-13) return to the pool on Friday against Kentridge on Senior Day.
