Bellevue drops Roosevelt 9-3

Fresh off of four straight losses, the Bellevue Wolverines picked quite a way to reverse their losing streak. Facing the top-ranked team in the North League, Roosevelt, Bellevue came out firing and topped the Roughriders 9-3 on Friday evening at Woodridge Pool.
With five Wolverines unable to play due to illness and/or injury, including three starters, the short-handed Wolverines showed their depth and determination. Freshman Sarah Harrison, a mid-season JV call-up, scored three goals and added two steals in her first career varsity start. Fellow freshman Sophia Schmid, seeing the first varsity action of her career, had one steal.
On the other end of the grade spectrum, senior two-meter Sophie Quynn posted three goals. Defensively, senior co-captain Sierra Anderson had one of her best games of the year, turning back 12 shots and adding three steals.
Bellevue (6-11) faces Inglemoor on Monday afternoon.
