Facing the defending state champs on Thursday night, the Bellevue Wolverines fell to the Curtis Vikings 19-0 at Curtis High School.
Curtis came out firing early in the game, posting an 8-0 first quarter lead behind a ferocious counterattack. The Wolverines limited the Vikings to just three second-quarter goals, but was unable to generate offense in the period.
In the third quarter, the Wolverines had multiple chances to end their scoring drought thanks to two ejections drawn from sophomore Maggie Ugelstad and senior two-meter Sophie Quynn. But the Wolverines were unable to convert their 6-on-5 opportunities.
Curtis continued their counterattack onslaught in the fourth quarter, posting four more goals. Senior Sierra Anderson fought valiantly in goal, turning back multiple breakaways to finish the game with 13 saves.
Bellevue (4-3) returns to the pool on Saturday for the Lakes Invitational.
