Bellevue tops Roosevelt, 13-7
After struggling on defense against its previous two opponents, the Bellevue Wolverines found their defensive stride on Thursday evening and defeated Roosevelt 13-7.
Senior goalkeeper Garrett Moffatt led the defensive effort with six saves in three quarters of action. Senior George French, junior Liam Naughton and sophomore Zack Rossman each had four steals and helped the Wolverines limit the Roughriders to just two first half goals.
Freshman Cameron Hayes led the offensive attack with a team-high four goals. It was the second straight game in which Hayes led the team in scoring. Rossman added one goal and four assists. Junior Marco Stanchi added three goals, all of which were scored during the decisive third quarter when Bellevue turned a 6-2 halftime advantage into a 12-4 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Junior driver Daniel Sandler scored his first goal of the season in the victory.
Bellevue (6-3) takes a week-long break before returning to action on Thursday, October 10th against Newport High School.
