Bellevue Earns #3 Seed at State
On Sunday evening, the Bellevue Wolverines were given the third seed for this week’s 12-team state tournament.
After losing 90% of its scoring from last year’s state championship squad, few were expecting much regular season success in 2012. But a young nucleus of Wolverines, determined to keep Bellevue on top, guided the program to first-place in the North Division (losing the tiebreaker by 1 goal) and a 13-1 in-state record. Bellevue’s lone in-state loss was against top-seeded Mercer Island, a team that Bellevue beat earlier this season.
On Wednesday, Bellevue takes on #10 Lakes and #7 Enumclaw at Lakes High School in the opening round. Last year, the Wolverines rode the #3 seed all the way to the state championship. This year, they are hoping that 3 is again their lucky number.
