Bellevue Defeats Inglemoor and Ingraham
During week one of water polo action, Bellevue kicked off its title defense with resounding victories over two first-year programs.On Monday, the Wolverines defeated Inglemoor High School 18-1 in the Vikings’ inaugural game. Inglemoor, founded by senior Gene Hoffman and his father Bob, is coached by Wolverine alum Chad Salley (’07).
Against the Vikings, Bellevue used a strong counterattack against the Vikings to jump out to a 9-0 first quarter lead. From there, it relied on a stingy defense and five blocks from goalie Reed Hendrickson to keep the Vikings scoreless through three quarters. Viking senior Gene Hoffman scored the lone goal for Inglemoor, ripping a man-up shot past Hendrickson in the fourth quarter. Junior two-meter Silas Clapham led the Wolverines with three goals, two assists and two ejections draw.
On Wednesday, the Wolverines defeated Seattle/Ingraham 16-2 at View Ridge Pool in Seattle. Seattle/Ingraham is composed of athletes from several Seattle Public Schools, but primarily Ingraham. Due to its combination status, the program is not state eligible in 2012.
Reed Hendrickson led the Wolverines with 15 saves. Arlen Hughes paced the offense with five goals, while Silas Clapham added four assists.
