Bellevue Downs Rogers, 20-1
When the Bellevue Boys Water Polo team last faced Rogers High School in 2010, they fell 11-6. This time, the result was much different. On Saturday, the Wolverines (3-0) defeated the Rams 20-1 behind a balanced offensive attack and a suffocating defense.
Sophomore two-meter set Marco Stanchi, playing in the first varsity game of his career, scored five goals and added two assists and three ejections drawn. Junior George French chipped in four goals and four steals. Four other Wolverines added multiple goals in the contest.
For the third straight game, Bellevue’s defense was dominant. Against the Rams, the Wolverines allowed only one shot on goal. Senior goalie Reed Hendrickson, the reigning State Defensive MVP, has allowed only four goals through Bellevue’s first three games.
Bellevue returns to action on Monday, September 17, at Bainbridge Island at 8:00pm.
