Hendrickson, Gaskins, Urban Selected as 2013 Captains

Juniors Reed Hendrickson, Jake Gaskins and Sam Urban have been selected as team captains for the 2012 season.  The junior trio takes over the leadership role from graduating seniors Jake VanWolvelaere and Wesley Johnston.

Hendrickson, the 2011 State Defensive MVP, was an integral part of Bellevue’s first-ever state championship team. His work in the cage has twice earned him the team defensive MVP award. Since his varsity debut in 2010, he has been steadily climbing Bellevue’s all-time career leader board and currently sits fourth in saves, second in assists and second in steals.

Gaskins is a two-time varsity letterman.  As a sophomore, he was team’s third-leading goal scorer.  Poised for a breakout junior season, an unfortunate preseason injury caused him to miss the entire regular season. However, determination and toughness led to an improbable return for the State tournament, during which he was a key contributor. Gaskins played his best under the biggest stage, scoring two goals and earning multiple ejections in the championship game.

Urban is a two time varsity letterman.  He joined the team as a sophomore and pulled off the rare feat of skipping JV and playing on the varsity squad immediately. A strong two-meter presence, Urban will be counted on to lead the offense in 2012.
