Five Wolverines Earn All-State Honors
Five Wolverines earned All-State honors at this weekend’s State Tournament after helping guide Bellevue to its first-ever State title.
Senior co-captains Jake VanWolvelaere and Wesley Johnston earned First-Team All-State selections. VanWolvelaere scored eight goals in the championship match and 24 total tournament goals. He was also named State Offensive MVP. Johnston led Bellevue with 16 assists throughout the tournament, including four in the championship match. Johnston added five goals in Bellevue’s semifinal game against Curtis, a team-high.
Junior goalie Reed Hendrickson was named Second Team All-State as well as Defensive MVP. Hendrickson had a spectacular tournament, holding opponents to eight goals or less. His outstanding tournament was highlighted by a 15-block effort in the championship match. Senior Jordan Bowers joined Hendrickson on the All-State Second Team after scoring 13 total tournament goals. He led Bellevue in scoring in two of five games.
Senior Noel de Sa e Silva rounded out Bellevue’s All-State honors with an Honorable Mention selection for his stellar two-meter defense. He also chipped in five goals and eight steals during the tournament.
